Communications Assistant

Richard Meier & Partners Architects is seeking a highly motivated individual with demonstrated experience in the A/E/C realm to assist the Director of Communications based in the New York office.  Working closely with the Principals and Senior Staff, the candidate will facilitate the firm’s communications and assist with business development efforts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Production assistance with responsibilities relating to press activity, new book publications, exhibitions, award submissions, and communications-related archiving
  • Create, assemble and assist the design of business proposals, firm brochures, press releases, press kits, award packages and lecture presentations
  • Writing assignments related to existing and potential projects under tight deadlines (proposals, presentations, lectures, publications)
  • Under the direction of the Director of Communications, preparation of Requests for Qualification, Requests for Information, Requests for Proposals and SF330 Forms
  • Pro-active assessment of potential projects
  • Engagement and expansion of client relationships regionally and internationally, as well as establishment of presence in new geographic markets
  • Management of website, including selection and editing of content
  • Assist the management of interviews and public engagements for the Principals and Directors, coordinating the practice’s public and press presence.
  • Management of all social media including video interviews, Facebook and Instagram

Qualifications include:

  • The ideal candidate will be a well-spoken, highly organized, and motivated individual capable of multi-tasking and working within a collaborative and creative environment.
  • Applicants should be thorough and detail-oriented, with proven ability to oversee multiple short and long-term efforts through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Candidates should have 3+ years of industry experience within architecture business development, with strong industry familiarity and an ability to understand and articulate RMP’s specific design sensibility.
  • The position requires superior editing and graphic design skills, and extensive use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and especially InDesign).
  • Good writing skills are an advantage in producing material for essays, lectures, speeches, marketing materials, press releases and new business proposals.

Recent Graduate to Project Manager Levels

The New York office of Richard Meier & Partners has limited potential opportunities for highly motivated Recent Graduates and Designer through Project Manager level individuals with 3-10 years of well-rounded work experience in Concept Design through Construction Administration phases. RMP is an office with a staff of 45+, led by four Associate Partners and the Managing Partner.

Candidates will have a professional degree in architecture, very strong design sensibility cultivated in similar leading practices, proficiency in AutoCAD (Microstation is a plus), and sound technical experience. For the Project Manager position we seek candidates with a thorough knowledge of Construction Documents, experience in Construction Administration, and demonstrated leadership experience with consulting engineer coordination, technical detailing, specification research, obtaining agency approvals and working with building contractors is required.

All candidates will demonstrate experience with and be responsible for developing details, providing design support, and a full range of communications skills through all phases of work. Preference is for candidates already experienced and based in the New York City area.

Essential Skills & Qualifications
• Fluent in English, spoken and written (a second language is a plus)
• Strong design skills, client management and project coordination skills
• Microstation, Revit, V-Ray, Rhino, Adobe Suite are assets
• Basic 3D Visualization building skills are essential for Designer positions
• Experience from a leading American or International architecture office
• Licensed and/or LEED certification are assets
• Has all legal permits and visas required to work in the United States

New York Office

Model Shop

Richard Meier & Partners Architects is seeking advanced architecture students to work full time in the model shop on architectural models, current projects and presentation materials.

Candidates must have excellent skills in the following areas:

  • Construction of physical models
  • Attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship
  • Written and verbal communications
  • Knowledge of Autocad (Microstation a plus)
  • Familiarity with Adobe software will be a plus

In addition, candidates must:

  • Commit to work full time for at least 6 months
  • Legally be eligible to work in the United States
  • Previous experience in design-oriented architecture office(s) will be a plus
